Lisbon Lisbon Lisbon

I can't believe that it has taken me this long to post this blog - over two months. But they have been a couple of crazy months and I apologize for making my viewers wait so long! If you follow this blog, you know that this past summer, we did a long and photographically intense cruise along the West African coast. It was physically and emotionally difficult. We also missed another chance to tour Lisbon. So, we decided to take yet another Transatlantic cruise from Lisbon to Miami. After a couple of days staying in the lovely Hotel da Baixa (Thanks Pedro) we embarked on the MS Marina and initially headed South for a day at sea.

Madeira Madeira

Our only stop on the eastern side of the Atlantic was Madiera. We've been there a number of times, but were able to find a tour to an area we hadn't visited before. As you can see, Madiera is noted for beautiful landscapes and quaint villages and towns.

Antigua Antigua

We then headed Southwest, for six days at sea, until we reached Antigua. I have a long history with the island, so had planned to take a helicopter flight to see and photograph the volcanic activity on Monserrat's Soufrière Hills. Unfortunately, there weren't enough helicopters to go around and my flight was cancelled. Since it was a hot day, and we had been there before, I chose to take a few hours to just photograph the island's capital, St. John's. It has a very interesting Church of England cathedral, the interior of which has recently been restored, as well as the typical caribbean mix of old and new buildings.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Our last port was San Juan and it was a very quiet but hot day. Again, we chose not to tour, having been there so many times, but I went for a short photo session ashore.

After another day at sea, we arrived before dawn, in Miami, Florida. It was the day before Thanksgiving, but we had a relatively calm return to Orlando. Yet another adventure for the books. See you next trip!
